Is KNX possible in renovation, or only in a new build?

Yes. KNX is suitable for both renovation and new construction, provided the design reflects the available cable routes and the planned level of building work.

When walls, ceilings or conduits are accessible, a wired KNX bus can be installed with the new electrical system. If new cabling is difficult, KNX RF or a hybrid wired and wireless design can modernise selected areas without opening the entire building.

A site survey or plan review confirms cable routes, switchboard space, radio coverage and priority functions before the architecture is selected.
