Does KNX work without Internet, and how is remote access secured?

Yes. Correctly programmed local functions such as lighting, heating and blinds continue to operate on the KNX bus without an Internet connection.

Internet access is needed for some remote services, notifications and cloud integrations. These functions should be designed so that a network outage does not block essential controls.

Security relies on a correctly configured gateway, protected accounts, maintained updates, suitable network segmentation and, where supported by the devices, KNX IP Secure or KNX Data Secure.
